LARD CORP || Once, long ago, it had been a ceremony. Zealots came in droves to enjoy what, back then, was a holy assembly. The sacrament, some called it; others - the skeptics, voyeurs and impious - called it walking, or else “the great pilgrimage”. Thousands took part in the pilgrimage and bore witness to the ritual. En masse they had stood watching, feeling, worshiping - before that which he, a skeptic, was now seeing. Unlike the faithful, however, he felt nothing - no terror, awe or exultation. Alone in the present, he only felt power.
