Patreon Reward Tier "Beast Mode: Fantasy Digital Sketch"

Article / 10 October 2018

Hi there! Thanks so much for showing an interest in this reward tier. Here are some frequently asked questions:

What does the reward include?

You will be receiving everything in Levels 1 to 3, but it also means you can request a unique fantasy digital painting sketch from me each month. The delivery of each illustration will be in a digital format and will include the following: Concept sketches, gif process, high res jpeg of the final image, and Photoshop file.

What will the subject matter of the drawing be?

All illustrations will be digital painting sketches of fantasy characters or creatures of your choosing :)

How detailed will digital painting sketch be?

To keep things simple, it will be similar to the examples below. The main figure will be "loose" and painterly in style with a plain abstract background. The painting should preferably be of the bust of the character, from shoulders up :3

If I only want one illustration, can I cancel after one month?

That shouldn't be a problem. If you would only like to pay for one month's illustration on this tier be sure to check out Patreon's billing info to make sure you cancel before the next billing cycle.

If I am unsure of anything, how can I get hold of you to ask more questions?

If you're uncertain about anything, please send me a message on Patreon or email me at: ben@benwinfield.com.

Patreon Reward Tier "Power Armour: Fantasy Line Drawing"

The delivery of each illustration will be in a digital format and will include the following: Concept sketches, gif process, high res jpeg of the final image, and Photoshop file.

What will the subject matter of the drawing be?

All illustrations will be in my fantasy line drawing style of a character or creature of your choosing :)

How detailed will my illustration be?

It will be similar to the examples below. A lot of fine lines forming the focal character or element, with an abstract background.

Will I receive the final illustration in the mail?

Unfortunately I cannot include shipping costs in the pricing of the reward tier as this is quite a large expense on my part. However, if you do choose the ink option there will be an addition US$30 shipping cost.

If I only want one illustration, can I cancel after one month?

Studies from Andrew Loomis

General / 06 June 2018
I recently received Andrew Loomis' book "Figure Drawing For All It's Worth" for my birthday and it's freaking amazing. My plan has been to read through it first, and then systematically work my way through it, doing studies as I go. You can buy it on Takealot here.

One of the things Loomis suggests in the book is to buy an artists mannequin to help with poses. I bought quite a small one and his legs don't move so well at the hips, but it's a fun start, and I definitely would recommend buying one if you don't already have.

Creature of the Forest

General / 04 June 2018
"A soft clicking filled the void, then a long sigh. The sound that followed made us all stop. A soft hacking that grew steadily until it had reached a pitch that was almost deafening. We swung around. Our flashlights split the night air as we searched, panicked, for we knew what that sound meant. We knew, because they had warned us. We had been warned. And we had not listened.” - Matthew Winfield.

Schoolism Lesson 4

General / 08 May 2018
A study I did for lesson four of the Schoolism course I'm busy with. In this study I had to choose five values, (two darks, three lights) and had to shift the value scheme to a lighter version as the reference image.
